I love shots like this, not the usual ones taken from the road. To hike up on the sandstone to get a different view of the park is what I enjoy too. Nice capture and great clouds! The road has since been repaved black and is no longer the red color that helped it blend into the park landscape. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks much for the compliment.
It's good to hear that they keep the road in good shape but I think it will slowly turn reddish again. It's my belief that during the hot summer months the reddish sand will blow onto the road and then start sticking to the hot and slightly softer asphalt. Cars driving over it will probably help force the sand into the asphalt also.
Kevin and Tony, I thought you'd like to know that the road project was not quite complete. Today, the roads that were repaved begin to undergo the process to turn them back to that traditional red color. It is estimated that the red chip seal will take 2 weeks to cover the entire stretch.
