Que linda imagem !! contest janeiro
Thank you Gab. The statue is about 12 stories high and has stairs inside to go to the top. David My Contest - "CALIFORNIA DREAMING"
Interesting photo. It appears very similar to the Naritasan Diakannon in Fukuoka (33.285445°N 130.534852°E). Cheers!
Umiyama 海山, thank you very much for your visit to my gallery. I took this photo 6 years ago when I visited the 6 Northeaster Prefectures of Japan. The Kannon statue is 12 stories tall and I climbed all the stairs inside to the top. Very special experience! I did check out the Naritasan Diakannon pictures with Google search. Yes, the two are quite similar. Best regards, David from California
My pleasure,David. We decided to escape the heat this summer by flying north to Hokkaido, then work our way back to Tokyo by rail. Along the way, I saw the Sendai Daikannon. These are an interesting Asian phenomenon. Thanks for posting the photos of the Aizu Daikannon. Cheers! -Steve (presently in Northern Nevada)
çiçekçi, thank you so much for your kind comments. Best regards, David
David, Thanks for the visit and comments to my photo of the Sendai Daikannon. Personally, I think the Aizu Diakannon is one of the more beautiful Avalokitesvara depictions. It is a "Jibo," or "loving-mother" Kannon. There don't seem to be many photos of this particular one on the Internet either.
