Harsh Reality

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

The colour version is quite a decent photo but I learned long ago that the sunlit snow can be useful in B+W photography since the contrasts can be modified to the extreme, as is the case here..For those who are interested in checking out the location, it is clear from the close-up, on the adjacent map, that the seats have been re-sited away from the formal crescent orientation to the randomly spread configuration you see in the photo.

_It has been such a humbling experience to receive so many wonderful messages from you all..I shall try to answer each one in the fullness of time..For those of you who do not know me, I'm just a plain old guy, with bad teeth, achy joints and cataracts..I type away at the key board for hours and make little progress..My photography is entirely governed by modern technology for which I give praise to the gods, without whom neither me or my photos would ever see the light of day..As for those of you who have taken the trouble and time to stay for a while in my gallery, I offer my warmest thanks and hope that you will continue to stop by..

Lovely winter scene, Jim! During summer, these benches probably are never empty! Must be nice to sit there and simply relax watching the waves.... I like the B&W effect in this photo which fits perfectly to the season!;) Best wishes and Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones, Anne

Hope you had a lovely Christmastime .. perhaps even getting spoiled with presents ???

wish you already a great start into the New Year

warm greetings Karin

Jim Evans (AXOTA) on December 28, 2012

K@rin :))~~~~Always a treat to find you here and a pleasure to read your fulsome reviews!

Christmas was a quiet event since I live an almost Scrooge like existence..:))

"Bah! Humbug!" is a by-word in my house..that's why people stay away :))

Just kidding :)

I like to "party" on New Years Eve! Oh! BTW, all my relatives got pressies for Christmas..

Hugs from Whitby!

Good to see you Ian..It seems a long time ago since we did that photo shoot with Si :) I have taken very few shots since then..The weather this year has affected my out-door activities a lot..As for the subsidence, things are not looking good Ian..Much more rain has fallen since the first signs of subsidence was observed and now the cliff immediately in front of our beloved Parish Church of Saint Mary is slipping inexorably downwards, exposing the graves and bones of those who were laid to rest there many centuries ago! They have been recovered and re-interred elsewhere.

I have some old photos of the cottages before the subsidence and some later ones of the demolition!

All the best for 2013 Ian..Keep on clicking :)
