The famous post office in Floreana, Galápagos

Not selected for Google Earth or Google Maps [?]

Scanned Agfa slide taken in the year 1967
At Post Office Bay on the Island of Floreana, since the 18th century whalers kept a wooden barrel that served as post office so that mail could be picked up and delivered to their destination, mainly Europe and the United States by ships on their way home. Cards and letters are still placed in the barrel without any postage. Visitors sift through the letters and cards in order to deliver them by hand We also left mail there . But never received it in Lima (Perú)

この奇妙なポストはとても好きです。 沢山の骨が飾らて記念碑の様です。

Eva Lewitus on September 5, 2012

Hello miru3po It seems this "post office" is still in use. Maybe it doesnt look like this any more.
