I hesitated to upload these few pictures taken in Spain 30 years ago. But still in my heart is the joy that was ours to explore Catalunya, and that seems sufficient justification. How dare an old tourist from years ago upload onto a Panoramio site!
Well I can only hope the Spaniards in our network are kind and forgiving, if the pics are not up to today's standards.
I did fall in love with Spain in 1978, and that love hasn't melted away.
Any help with mapping this will be appreciated. It is in the vicinity of Pons.
What were the originals of these, Ian: slides or prints? They're lovely and I'm glad you've posted them. I particularly like the composition and colours of this one.
These are scanned from slides, Marilyn. There seems to be a fair degree of variability in the process, for all of these are very good on the screen, but the scanner is making hard labour of some. I have previously published some of these in geography texts and they came out very well there, too.
I just wish I could locate this precisely on GE, but I have found it more difficult than I thought I would. Part of my problem is there are new highways running along this valley and I am not sure exactly which piece of road I was on in 1978.
Thanks again for your affirming interest.
What a great shot Ian I would certainly have posted it. It is nioce that so long after it was taken, it still has such an impact on you.
Thanks for sharing, Yan! It is a wonderful series of old photos. Has no value quality of photo. The main thing an opportunity to see the changes which have occured for years. And, certainly, once again to tell words of gratitude to that ground and those people with whom it was good to you. Eva
I am really encouraged and most delighted that these 30 year old slides are appreciated by a wider audience than those from Spain.
Palmina and Eva it is special of you to recognize that photography is really the work of the heart as much as of the eye. I think it is the expressions of affirmation, encouragement and delight that are binding our community together, as we respond to each others images. While we are learning to see differently and to develop our techniques, it is the shared values and gratitude that are dominant. And here, Eva, you recognize that these qualities also flow between the photographer and the people and place that we photograph. Wonderful.
And so gondor you are representative of the people and place that this photo depicts! You, too, share a love for place : you enjoy the Costa Brava sunshine opening your eyelids in the morning, and you delight in the mountains of Spain. We look forward to images that you will post of the Himalayas.
