Only problem will be..where are the fish?? Waiting for the weather to break. Good thing about this spot, the gravel road in is in good nick. Won't shake hell out of the boat.

ah yes, the boat. I forgot about that. I travel without boat so I don't think of that. Whytes Rd is usually OK. Should I tell you that we got attacked by yobbos near there?

These dams are not policed, so some visitors think they can do what they like. Is a problem at any of the dams. The issue seems to be that three departments have an interest in the dams and surrounds, and no-one seems to know who should do what to whom. Hence..none of them seem to bother. It's pathetic.
For instance..the last time I ran into a Fisheries inspector at any of the dams, was back in the late '80s. They only show an interest in night time policing of the marron fishery, which I'm not involved in.

Hi Jock...I don't know if you're referring to the Dept who has responsibility for the National Park around this dam, Jock, but I can tell you that they are very interested in what is going on...the trouble lies with inadequate staffing, due to inadequate funding, and also with the boundary between the National Park/forest/land and the high water mark/water, as technically, from the high-water mark downwards is the jurisdiction of a different department. Thankfully the illegal use of unlicensed motor-bikes and cars (often in conjunction with irresponsible use of alcohol and illegal substances) is being increasingly addressed, as it is this activity from which many problems arise. I know that from personal experience :-(

Caroline..I don't really blame the dept. But I guess if they haven't got the resources to deal with the issues and management, what's the point in declaring the area a national park..

Those kinds of decisions are often more political than sensible Jock :) But despite the frustrations, there are a few good things that come out of it; one is that the area is no longer available for timber harvesting, which it would have been, had it remained State Forest.

That is a good thing. I think the belief by certain folk in another department about clearing areas of trees around dams for more water inflow..is harebrained! Can't see how the advantages can outweigh the disadvantages.
