The summer has been so drab here that I had given up on finding any Silver washed fritillarys, and then two come along at once. And, one is a beautiful abberation.

I was really lucky. This is my favorite butterfly and to see them mating is great. What makes this really exciting for me is that the dark coloured one is a female, they are normally the same colour as the male, so to find such a fine specimen as this one mating is marvalous, maybe once in a lifetime shot.
