Thanks, Julie. This is looking toward NY state on the US side. The Niagara Escarpment runs through Ontario and right around to Mich and Wisc. It has a 'cap rock' of limestone (dolostone). The red rock is Queenston Shale. (and all you wanted was a 'thank you', ha ha :)

You're welcome, Tom and Julie. At a closer look. the red rock here is red sandstone. The Queenston shale is not visible in this area (down closer to the Niagara River)
