That must be fun! There is a person here, who owns some huskies. In winter he races across the hills, I usually see the traces. Only once that I saw the "race" passing through the fresh snow in a little distance - I was really amazed and of course, I didn't have my camera ready. ;-) You were luckier - lovely photo!
My best greetings, May

I was very lucky, May! Friday's storm made it a strenuous day, hard on my knees, so when it was still snowing Saturday morning, I decided to stay in. By afternoon, skies had partly cleared, so I went out to photograph an interesting building nearby--and discovered that the course for the dog sled races went right in front of the hotel! I watched and photographed until the race ended, and I had a fine time!
Best wishes, Marilyn

Wow! Look at this! I've never seen a real alive dog sled with dogs in action! Fantastic! It's wonderful. I would have been so excited to see this! You did a great job of capturing the moment.

I'd never seen it either, MaryAlice, and I was excited. With the shutter lag of a digital camera (though not as bad as that of my first digital), it took quite a few attempts to get any usable shots. But the advantage of digital photography is, of course, that I didn't waste any film!

Greetings Marilyn, What a wonderful opportunity to do some action photography - dog sled races. It looks like the dogs are having fun running in the snow.
Cheers,
Rich

As you probably read, Rich, I got a lot of "misses" along with a few "hits," but it was a wonderful opportunity to try. At least with dog sled races, you knew where they'd be coming and going, not like whales or dolphins out in the ocean, for instance!
Cheers, Marilyn

How exciting Marilyn! I've never seen dogs racing either, but I'd love to. Lucky you, and nice shot here as well; not easy I know. I knew knew a guy who had St Bernards -- he thought they'd make better sled dogs than the small huskies. He trained them for years before admitting defeat, but I never did get to see them run.

It was great fun, Nawitka! A sled pulled by St. Bernards would have been quite a thing to see! But I wouldn't place my money on them in a race (if I placed money on any races)!
