About the Parliament building
The Budapest Parliament, or rather Hungarian Parliament, is the biggest and probably most impressive building in Hungary. In Hungarian it is called Orszaghaz which translated means country house. The building is one of the oldest legislative buildings in Europe and still serves as the seat of Hungarian democracy.
History of the Hungarian Parliament 7 years after Budapest as such was united from 3 different cities (Buda, Pest and Obuda) in 1873 the Hungarian diet decided to establish a new and representative Parliament builsing. After an international competition Imre Steindls idea was chosen. However 2 other contestants’ ideas have been realized as well, just not as the Budapest Parliament building.
40 Million bricks is what has been used to build up the parliament building which has not only a symmetrical facade but the entire building is mirrored so that you also have 2 parliament rooms out of which one is used to make politics, the other one is used for guiding tourists for sightseeing.
On the facade you have famous Hungarian and Transylvanian leaders as well as military people as statues. Due to the size the building is almost always under construction so it is really hard to get a good photo of the Budapest parliament without constructions on it.
