Pebbles on the Beach @ Saltwick Bay, Yorkshire.

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

This popular cove at Saltwick Bay makes a perfect early morning destination for shooting seascapes. As you can see, the beach is deserted.

My biggest problem was keeping my mischievous dog out of the scene.

High atop the cliffs behind my viewpoint is a holiday resort and caravan park.

The beach is accessed via a steep footpath and steps hewn out of the cliff face, the climb back to the top is energy sapping!

This photo is the result of 16 separate raw images stitched in PS3 and enhanced in Lightroom3. HDR IS NOT APPLIED.

If you have the time, enlarge the image to fill your screen, the detail is very fine, even down to each grain of sand!

As for seascapes, this is one of my best shots!

Super panorama Jim,

It feels like you were down low for this one. I love the colours of the sky - a great time of day of this scene. Has to be a YSL.

All the best Mick

Hello my dear Jim, what a beauty! What a splendid beach! Magnificent panorama with a great composition, superb light and marvellous sunrise colors, my favourite moment. It must be fantastic to see the sun rises here... What a sky, with the orange line on the horizon! And this is deserted, wow! Fabulous capture of this natural beauty, I would like to be here right now! Thanks also for your interesting explanations, perhaps your lucky doggie could make a very pretty silhouette here, who knows? And how this place is in winter? Do you have snow on these beautiful pebbles? I have never seen snow on the beach, only big frost and ice, what a fun the snow on the beach! This wonderful work deserves a big like 37 ♥ and YS 17 ♥. Sincere compliments, and warm regards, see you soon, Geneviève

Very good panorama, beautiful colors! Like! Greetings Nick

Lovely Pano Jim. Ta too for the comments on my large Pano from last year. Yes the horizon is still a little wobbly. I spent about 13 hours on that one from memory and by the time i got sorting the horizon out with the free transform tool i got a little tired - good spotting by your self to keep me on my toes cheers Dasha

What a nice shot, I enjoyed reading many of your descriptions but right now I don't have much time to keep reading so I added you to my favorite photographers list hoping to come back with more availability of time. L+F PS. Incredible that it is not an HDR shot!

I know that I can always come to your gallery for a positively mind-boggling experience! My goodness....what a fine capture! I am truly in awe! The detail, the colors, the perspective ..... everything! It's incredible, Jim! Even though I can't see little Roxy, I think you took it from her perspective. You were right down there with her, yes? It's all just perfect.

I miss you!

Your little Georgia girl
