I used to play here now and then ~ when passing sometimes we'd stop for a stroll or picnic :) Happy days

we love walking there with our young(ish) kids, Nick - one of the best places i know for blowing the cobwebs out of your brain - the air seems especially fresh up there - but a difficult place to do justice to photographically. Thanks for taking the time to look at the back pages. Graham

For me when the first shot I see is interesting enough then I browse through a gallery and I'm sure that there must be many who also adopt that approach. Having written that though, the front page is as far as some ever reach easily.

Yes I have never tried to take a shot of the rings or the avenue, I can easily believe what you say. A balloon ride might be the answer.

Al the best to you from nick

hello Roman -I have not read much Hardy - I find it a little bleak, but the atmosphere he creates is very strong, and I do sense it in places in Dorset. Enjoy your reading.

You can see Badbury from the air in the map above Roma - or here - the part now covered in trees would have been where people lived in the iron-age, the rings were defensive structures - Black Sabath is even more depressing than Thomas Hardy ! ;)
