Thanks Lx :) It certainly is a very special memorial. There is all manner of interesting detail, I have to do some more pics, you should come and have a look at it :)

Beautiful entrance to the Cemetery. I really like old cemeterys with all the detail that use to be put into them. Long time ago I was in charge of maintinance and grounds crew of the Palestine, Texas City Cemetery and really got to enjoy some of the detail that you get to see when there on a daily basis. Most people just drive by and miss the big picture.

Know what you mean Henry, this is actually the entrance to the town's number one park though, which contains the local War Memorial, which you can see way down the end of the path through the entrance there, it looks very small from that distance. But cemeteries can be so interesting, especially very old ones, if there are graves which are new-ish I find them too sad, the very old ones I can be a bit more detached about, if you know what I mean...

That one is even better, nicely composed C LIKE

I came to the conclusion that everyone was at there permanent home in the cemetery and were quiet happy to have me visiting on a daily basis and keeping there little piece of property maintained and looking sharp. ;-)

Thank You Lee!!

And Henry I like your conclusion...sounds pretty sensible to me!!

Great shot Caroline. That's some entry-statement. Lk. Interesting comment on recent and old graves. I'm kind of opposite to you. I find the way kids and younger adults died so commonly in times past moves me. And wartime graves have that effect too.

InTheBush on August 16, 2012

The graves of children always move me Jock, but the recent ones in a different way. And war cemeteries, well I just turn to a total mess.
