Dawn breaks over Yabba Station, Jimna, Queensland

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Yabba Station is a cattle grazing property owned by Owen Bassingthwaighte. Yabba Station is located in the upper catchment of Yabba Creek (seen in the distance), on the Jimna Range, upstream of the point where the Yabba plunges over the escarpment into the Mary Valley.

Greetings Berend,

This gentle landscape on the Jimna Range is used for cattle fattening, but just to the north and east there is some very rugged country of deeply dissected escarpment.

My son and I were flying to photograph the Yabba Falls, early one morning so that the rising sun would be illuminating the east-facing Falls.

We thought we were going to be disappointed for there was a blanket of low cloud on the plateau, but it was here, over "Yabba Station", that we were excited to find this window of sunshine, and the falls were just 6km ahead. And, yes, the sun shone on the Falls for us!

My dear Ian,

I can see the sun really shining different on the Falls... Sometimes everything suddenly changes! ( Iknow it well) The most important thing is to have the ability for see! I wish I could make its painting!

Love and greetings.Fü

When you come, dear , we'll make sure you have the time to make a painting of the falls, and hopefully other paintings in other locations.

I look forward to learning of your itinerary.
