The passage from the southwest region of Thessaly plain to the mountains of Pindos, unique from many years ago, is what form the two opposite mountains, Koziakas and Itanos, bordering the root of the river Portaikos or Portrait . A short distance from the town stands the church of Porta - Panagia, located in the settlement of Porta Panagia. To get there, there are two ways. The Church of Porta - Panagia dates from 1283 and is said to have been built on the site of an ancient temple of Athena or Apollo, by the emperor John Angelos Komnenos Doukas. Characteristic of the church, two valuable icons of Christ and the Virgin Mary.
