Although in terrible want of parks and trails in the surrounding mountains there are no shortage of parks in Alpine. In a city of less than 6,000 people there are four parks in the city limits. Two of these including Shipman and New Town Parks are w/o benches, picnic tables, or swing sets. They are totally void of any obvious purpose excluding the fragrance of wildflowers and beautiful views. The latter, New Town Park is on the southeastern edge of town before the cemetery (Shipman Park is on northwestern side of town). The only thing that distinguishes this piece of country from the surrounding countryside as a park is the blessed absence of fences. The photographic record of these two parks I recently visited might serve forever the only proof of their existence besides the little green tree graphic over the places on Google Earth maps.
