Chatham County Courthouse - Pittsboro, NC - Originally Built 1881

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 10, 1979.

This building was undergoing exterior renovations when on March 25, 2010, it caught fire. The fire was due to an ember from a cutting torch that ignited the clock tower scafolding. The fire initially simply gutted the buiding, but the clock tower unexpectedly collapsed the following day, doing extensive physical damage to the 2nd floor & 3rd floors.
