Great composition for this nice reflection, Erik!

Greetings from Santiago de Chile.

Thanks Erwin,

Altough it's still winter here in Holland, and mostly this comes with rainy and gray days, we have had some wonderful bright sunny days.Something we were all longing for. A wonderful eve for a balloon trip. Here they fly over a small river called 'De Linde'.The name is most likely derived from the Keltic word Lind, meaning 'water'.

Hi Erik great set of balloon photos, this will be me on Friday, cant wait hope I get some nice photos. Can I pick your brains once more i am cheekey I know! Can you tell me is there much difference in quality between a 6mp and 8mp SLR? Many thanks Regards Sam

Erik van den Ham on July 8, 2008

Sorry Sam i din't reply a little sooner. Last week was very busy for me. In fact there could be no difference in quality between the two.It all depends on what you like to do wth your pictures. If you like to make huge prints of them than it is good to have the extra 2mp.For pictures here on panoramio you certainly do not need to have them. The most screens can only display 1200 x 800 =960.000 pixels so a little less than 1mp.All the extra Mp's are also usefull if u cut out a small piece of a picture, u can still make a picture of it in good quality. Although it would have been better to walk closer to your subject or if u used a tele lens.If your budget is limited it's better to buy a decent lens or lenses. And when u buy one u have to keep in mind what u use the most. A tele- macro- or wideangle.it all depends on your favorite subjects.

Hi Erik thanks for getting back to me and as usual your information has been very helpful,I have since bought myself a new camera its a Nikon D40 6mp. For what I will be using it for I think it will fine. I seem to be getting on ok with it so far but am a little nervous to try anything too complicated i am sure once I am little more used to it I will get a bit more adventurous!! If you get 5 mins take a look at page 2 of my gallery and see what i got up to on my birthday!Again many thanks for all your advice its very appreciated. Best Wishes Sam.
