Oakville Historic Lighthouse (1889 - 1960)

The Old Lighthouse, (1889), 25-foot high octagonal wooden structure replaced the original signal tower. It served until the 1960's, when it was deactivated and moved to the grounds of the Oakville Yacht Club. It is hard to see from the bridge, you almost have to know, that it is there.

Allan Morrison Masson, former mayor of Oakville, helped to preserve this tower.

The original Oakville Lighthouse (1837) stood at the end of a pier until 1886, when it was swept into Lake Ontario by a storm.
