Hello, Thank You for this picture from the Stoltenhoff Island! (A part of Tristan da Cunha, a dependency of the British overseas territory of Saint Helena.)
I never heared of this island until 10 min:
There is an advertisement campaign in different small german newspapers and the Internet from coin traders for collectors: "Money from the Pirate-Island - the first edition coins from the Stoltenhoff Island, a former pirate hiding-place" (my rough translation into English). They have different sailing ships and par value (penny) on it and on the back Queen Elizabeth II, an official legal tender set, although non circulating - for a high issue price.
Stoltenhoff Island is very small (0,1km²], uninhabited and inaccessible. How it is possible that this island was "a hideaway for Pirates" and is mentioned on a dubious currency?
not to mention from a beach volley tournament: The Stoltenhoff Open 08 with a prize money of € 100.000
Sorry, maybe is this the right place to start a discussion or not? Nevertheless it is because to keep an unimportant island in mind...?:
Coins and world tournaments in the name of a penguin and bird dung island? What will come next? ;-)
I think this is dubious... pirate methods...
nice greetings from Berlin, Germany
P.S. I started to recherche about the Stoltenhoff brothers, two Germans wich tried to live as the only one on Inaccessable Island between 1871-1873. You can find it in "The Annals of Tristan da Cunha" by Prof.Faustini at page 35f.
conclusion: you can make real money from bird dung (also called "Guano")

I came to this picture because of the advert for a coin series as well. I cannot believe they advertise for this kind of scrap metal... and find people who pay for it, too. gpermant Stuttgart, Germany
