Yes indeed, St Helena is a fascinating place. I have been fortunate enough to visit there eight times in all – first time back in 1960, when one mail ship to and from South Africa stopped there. The only way to get there is by sea – your own yacht or the last mailship afloat. There is no economy as such – some fish export, some coffee – and it is almost impossible to buy land or a house unless you are a Saint, as the citizens are known.
