Jarrold Footbridge over the River Wensom. Officially opened May 31, 2012

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Caroline Jarrold said the vision behind it goes back about 20 years.

Peter Jarrold, then chairman of Jarrold & Sons Ltd, thought that an additional pedestrian bridge would open up the access from the city centre to Mousehold Heath, to the north-east of the city. But it was only when Jarrold’s former printing factory site was about to be developed, that the bridge became a reality.

The building of the bridge became part of the conditions for the development, and it was constructed using a combination of weathering steel and timber and designed to give the impression of a smooth arc over the river below.

Thanks Herb. This is a new bridge and at first we couldn't find it. Even some of the locals on the market didn't know exactly where it was. I think this view will often be photographed soon! :))

Cheers, Amelia

A great shot Amelia, I walked past there on a visit to The Jarrold's Printing Museum (http://www.panoramio.com/photo/105213075) on a visit to Norwich recently. Thanks for the description as well, so many don't.

Hi there Sefdik, and thank you. We must visit the Print museum, it sounds so interesting.

I don't always add a description, as it's time consuming, and often folks pay no attention to it. But it makes the photo so much more interesting I think.

Cheers, Amelia
