Dennis, you are very observant. When they build the road, they cut these grooves along the edge to wake inattentive drivers. Driving off the road is an experience it is better to avoid. There is also an area to the right of the road where a vehicle could stop to change a tire or take a picture.

......ооооо, мало! У нас в Казахстане на всех дорогах за городом, разрешено движение 110, а покрытие на много хуже, но много где ограничение в 50 км/ч, там где не ровная дорога, а дороги у нас не везде ровные, хотя и полисмены не везде! :)))....
