This is the most Western and Southern Island of the Canarian archipel. That's where I found the pretty "heart" of the last photo. :-)

Jean, so sorry, it's too late, I have taken it with me! ;-)

:-)) Amitiés, May

Hank, thank you! That's what I love too! The colours of the magical island! greetings, May

Greetings May, What nice colors mixed in with the presence of the surf. Looks like a wonderful place to be when you want to escape the snow.

May M. B. (Swissmay) on February 14, 2008

Thank you very much, Rich! This winter I don't have to escape the snow up to now. But it's magic, different and beautiful there at the end of the world!

Greetings, May

Herrliche Gegend und schöne, kräftige Farben! Gefällt mir ausgezeichnet!

e.m.r., vielen Dank! Gruss, May

May! What a beautiful photo! Absolutely beautiful colors and contrast. All those lush dark tones really make the sea foam jump out. But why oh why have you been hiding it until now???

Ryan, thank you very much! I am so glad, that you like it, it's one of my favourites.

May M. B. (Swissmay) on February 16, 2008

Estupenda foto May

I love those remote places, like the Playa Verodal. When I was there in December many years ago in the last century, there weren't roads like today, in the West and on Julan mostly pistas naturales. Once I was surprised by night fall, when I was up in the Dehesa on a bad road above the Faro Orchilla and I had only little petrol left. I didn't know where I was, because it was pitch dark. I saw something like a signboard, turned my car to see by its light what was written on it. It said "Faro de Orchilla" and to the other side, "Eremita de los Reyes".

I made it down the tricky winding road to Sabinosa, but only in Frontera I got to the second Petrol station on the island and - it was closed. Luckily someone in the bar was so nice to give me some petrol to get to Valverde, where I stayed at the time.

From La Frontera I drove up all the way the road on top again and past San Andres to La Montañeta in a thick fog, until I arrived in Valverde. On the whole way from La Dehesa to Valverde I didn't meet a car, I felt as if I was the only person on another planet. As small as the island may seem, that night I had the impression, as if the road would never end. ;-)

The tunnel today surely saves a lot of time and the roads are very comfortable now. ;-)

Saludos, May
