The William Eckardt House in Unionville. The two storey brick dwelling was constructed circa 1852. It is a representation of a vernacular style (Whatever it suppose to mean) of architecture with some Regency styling.
William Eckardt was the son of Gottlieb Eckardt, the 'Rebel' who received notoriety during the Mackenzie Uprising of 1837, and the grandson of Philip Eckardt one of the original pioneers who settled in the area in 1794.
Private House on Main Street. Listed for $1,750,000. (In 2010)
Childhood home of Elizabeth Balfour-Boulton (nee Watson 1925-2010) teacher and school principal in Markham. I had not idea it was a historic house, when I took the photo. I found all info on the web. Even the current occupant of the house can be found on the net.
