This is pretty, but how in the heck did you manage a clear, blue sky in Derbyshire in February?
Greetings from northern California (where it's either raining or snowing depending where you're sitting),

Paul,I haven't a clue. It was one of them un-explained phenonamens (bad spelling). It should have been cold, damp and grey.
So what's the deal with your weather? I thought California was good year round. Thanks for visiting.Cheers! Rob

Unfortunately, English TV gives the impression that California is all beaches, sunshine and Hollywood. California is very much a land of contrasts. It's three times the size of the UK with only half the population.
When we came here from Sunderland in 1980, we lived in Los Angeles in the smog and traffic, but we moved to Shasta County in 1994. We're at the extreme north end of the Sacramento Valley, about 150 miles north of Sacramento. We have mountains (as high as 14,000 + feet) on three sides, and we have a much longer winter than L.A. ever did. We get about 35" of rain in the valley, and our local ski park at Mount Shasta has around 40' of snow as I write.
So, I'm sitting here in the gloom (watching Manchester United dismantle Newcastle United again), my wife is on the slopes, and you're basking in sunshine! What's wrong with this picture?
