Greetings and welcome Rene. The fishing vessel weieghed almost 200 tonnes and the hired crane 500T crane arrived on 4 semi-trailers and took 3 days to erect at a cost of £25,000.This boatyard, here in my hometown, employs 25 multiskilled workers, and builds around 3 of these trawlers each year. (each vessel costs on average £1.5 million. They build a fine boat.

Thanks for dropping in.

A flying boat to catch flying fish! What a wonderful capture Jim and a great story ~ the cost of hiring that crane is staggering and it is a mighty beast. I would have loved to have watched them assemble the crane and then witness the lauch as well. You were a lucky chap and no doubt can witness the same event two or three times a year then. All the very best to you Jim from nick and thanks for sharing this great shot and the associated information. :)

Dear Nick, good to see you here;>)

Soon another trawler will be ready to launch and the Scottish owners and their families will make the voyage south to bless the boat and give her its name.

Afterwards, the revellers will consume much of the falling down liquid, and to the tune of a lone (and probably asthmatic) piper, the younger element will no doubt jig away into the early hours.

Eventually, when realisation takes over, the Scots will return to their homeland in a charabanc with a LOCH FYNE EXCURSIONS emblazoned on its side and loud shouts of "FREEEEEEDOM" hurled at local passers by, along with a few empty single malt whisky bottles.

We are well used to these incursions from the tribes north of the border!!

HADRIAN couldn't stop them and neither can we ;>))

No offence meant to my scottish readers ;>)

Cheers,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Jim
