Thankyou Marilyn. Yes it was gently raining at the time of the photograph. I think the raindrops improve the image.

For me the spray or the rain are almost perpetual on a ship's window.

I like the faint glimmer of the lantern. Was the ghost of Joseph Banks there penning his discoveries? Perhaps the ship's artist was drawing the flowers that had recently been brought on board. Perhaps a wistful diary entry was being penned.
