The huge TT Quarry

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

as far as I'm aware, little stone was quarried here for construction and most seems, from the scrapes of steam or bucket shovels, to have been quarried for cement production - in Dunedin or for agricultural purposes. Up near Springfield Road these is evidence of stone being cut and there is a large stack of big blocks on site - however I am advised that these blocks came from the OK quarry. Clearly there is a lot to be understood about the heritage of quarrying and lime burning in Oamaru.
