Actually, this is not a village, but two of the four buildings on the small wharf at Taiohae. The colourful one is the yacht service. Behind it are the remains of Fort Collet. Built by the French some 150 years ago.
Taiohae is, by definition, the capitol city of the Marquises. Government headquarters and a cathedral are situated here.
