& St Michael's Roman Catholic Church.
The main road crossing the front of the church follows the line of Thomas Telford's turnpike road that crossed what was then "West Bromwich Heath"
The road, attracting further development throughout the 19th century resulted in "West Bromwich Heath" becoming the focus of what became Westbromwich. The original settlement of Lyndon with its Parish Church and Manor House is sited about a mile and a half away at the edge of Sandwell Park one of the former estates of the Earls of Dartmouth.
The scanty remains of Sandwell Priory, that were partially exposed on the demolition of Sandwell Hall, were excavated about ten years ago.
