Ciudad de las artes y las ciencias is a complex of modern buildings designed and built by the architect Santago Calatrava, near Saler, a totaly modern area of Valencia. It consists of the Queen Sofia Museum, the hemisphere (a half-eye construction), the Museum of Prince Philip, the Oceanographic center (perhaps the largest in Europe), housed in 6 - 7 different buildings and L 'Umbracle, one construction, wich its corresponding exists in the Olympic center of Athens , work of the same architect. This complex is surrounded by pools and gardens, so it offers specially at night magnificent reflections. It is a minimalistic modern art architecture, and comes as a natural continuation of the great Spanish artists and architects of the last century.
