Old School, Blanchland
Our client the Lord Crewe Charity wanted to convert this building to a tea room Whilst the building was originally the village school it had more recently been converted into a dwelling. The original building was a fine design, built to a high specification, fitting for the model village of Blanchland. The building is listed grade II and within the conservation area.
The design simply removed much of the undesirable previous alterations to expose the internal architectural form of the school room along with many of it features. A commercial kitchen, storage, modern toilets and access for disabled were all included. A garden was created for overspill in the summer months.
