Greetings GIE, What a wonderful vanishing point shot. Makes you wonder what you will find if you travel to the small point where the rails come together. Very nice.
Cheers,
Rich

Thanks Richard. When we were in school we sometimes were marched out on walks along the old track at the far side until we arrived at that vanishing point.

Great bridge photo, Gerry. It's always interesting to see these leftover details. I like how the structure is clearly visible, but also the way it's being overgrown. It's a wonderful double metaphor for the passage of time. Ryan

Hi Gerry, great perspective and motive! And the weather is perfect, too. Thank you for linking me to your photo and visiting mine. But I wouldn't cross them both... Greetings, Xenia

Nice shot gerry, great old stone bridges down your direction in kilmacthomas, & borris, very similar bridge to this in cahirciveen across the inlet!

Hi Gerry, never visited this bridge, I think the railway to New Ross is 'offically' still in place for right of way reasons! Wouldn't fancy bring a couple of tons over that decking! On your note about the blackwater viaduct in fermoy. This i think is much more similar to the viaduct in cahirciveen, co kerry. This looks a lot higher off the river though!
See what you think here...

I remember walking out along the line to the bridge from New Ross when I was in school. There is a business (storage yard or the like) at the town end of the line and you would have to gain access through it. Gates are overgrown but maybe there is still a legal right of way though!

Yes Gerry,
There is a similarity in engineering design and period between the two bridges, yours at New Ross and mine at Imbil. But while there is a similarity, what this invokes for me is memory of the bridges that carried the canal across a river: the Grand Canal at Monasterevin for example. Some of my explores in your green land are memorable indeed.
Warm regards,
Ian
