Did you know that all Lakes are destined to become meadows? In time they fill up with rock, debri, and silt that are carried from the creeks and rivers that feed it. Sparks lake is a lake that is in that transition. The 2 mountains in the background are from left to right. South Sister and Broken Top.

This is tremendous Michael, you have a bit of everything - sunrise, reflection, rising mist and a panorama.

Matthew,

Sorry for this late resposne to your posting. It seems that I have not been recieving e-mail alerts when people post about my photos.

Thanks for the compliments! This is one place I'll keep returning to year after year. As long as I live here in Oregon...

Wow, that's incredible. Scenic locale and very well taken. After seeing your pics, I put this region on my list for my next road trip.

erality,

Thanks.

You better come for a visit quick! Crater Lake just had it's 1'st snow fall last week. ( nothing stuck ) and the elevation here is real close to Crater lake and soon the Hwy will be closed because of snow.

Say, how soon would you say the road to the top of Steens Mt will be closing for the season? If I can get some free time I want to visit in October.

Michael.

The road to Steens Mountain either just closed or is closing this week due to snow. Try calling the Burns District Office at (541) 573-4400.

I actually haven't been to Steens yet myself, but I just heard that the most beautiful time of year to go is in June when the wildflowers are blooming.

erality,

Thanks for the information.

I probably wont make it to Steens Mt this year. Instead, I did a short tour of the Elkhorns in NE Oregon..

Michael,

I would like to get your permission to use this photo on our website. Here's the website mockup where you can see how we'd use it: http://www.larrypottsmusic.com/site2/index_slate.html

This website is for Larry Potts, a songwriter and singer, who has roots in Oregon and loves this picture.. if I put the appropriate tags in the html (rollover, comments, alt tag) giving you credit for the photo, would that be ok?

Thanks, Wendy from Petaluma, Ca.
