I didn't know there were two "Newspaper Rocks." These are the fun pictures that, in and of themselves may not be photographically great, but are the most interesting part of sharing. I've got a lot of this type. Good job and thanks.

This is an amazing panel. I love the figure tanning the hide in the upper right corner. I normally wouldn't reveal the exact location, since it is outside of the National Park system, but it appears in several guide books for Utah. I really hate the fact it is pretty much unprotected and has suffered some vandalism. I am probably making another trip to the San Rafael Swell this spring. I am going to be concentrating on taking better pictures this time!

I've a bad knee, so strenuous hikes are out for me, so I'm counting on others like you to come back with great shots. My last hike was up Mt. Marcy to find the Hudson River source, Lake Tear of the Clouds. That proved to me you can't "just take it easy" and get there anyway. Keep up the good work.

It looks very cool. Did anyone notice off to the north east the big concentric circles? they are all over the country in out of the way places. Anyone know what they are? They are like green in the middle of miles of desert and whatnot.

Thomas8346, they are irrigation pivots. Most of the western US is very arid, and agriculture is not possible without extra water. The circles are huge sprinkler systems which rotate around a central pivot.

Nice picture. I have always found native american paintings, pottery and artifacts intriging. I lived in Arizona for quite a long time and have found many signs of ancient native american cultures.

Ancient American art often depicts astronomical events that signal planting and harvesting times; other times, they depict spirits of rain, clouds and thunder, bringers of life-giving water
