the origin of the Rock of Cashel dates back to approximately 432 AD. It later served as The seat of the Kings of Munster. It's said that St.Patrick converted the local King Aenghus, here in the 5th century and Brian Boru was crowned King of Ireland on this spot in the early 11th Century. most of the buildings date from the 11th Century. The cathedral was destroyed by fire in 1495. It is also the site of a massacre of hundreds townspeople during Cromwell’s conquest of Ireland.
