Franciscan Friary the building (which has been rebuilt and added to many times) dates back to 1269. the tower was added in the 14th century, from 1650 for about a hundred years it had no friars. In the late 1700's the Franciscans once again took possession, from 1828 to 1883 the friary was fully rebuilt to what it is today the only other notable addition was a shrine of St. Anthony, built in 1959. The tomb of the Barons of Cahir is located in the friary (dating from 1530).
