Also known as the River Rat the Coypu is a large, herbivorous, semiaquatic rodent originally native to subtropical and temperate South America. They live in burrows alongside stretches of water and feed on river plants wasting 90% of the plants while feeding on the stems. They also eat bread as my brother's neighbour, Colette, goes down to the lake to feed them every afternoon and indeed she is the only one to have actually seen one until my photographic proof!!!
