il n'y a pas des fondations - les pierres sont la base, s'il pleut beaucoup il n'y a pas d'érosion des trois pieds qui portent le grenier. Cette surélévation est la meilleure protection contre les rongeurs. les chapeaux sont facilement réparables ou même reconstruits......

the danger is of course if rain water washes the ground under stones. Do you know that in other countries - like Norway - the same principle of construction on stone was used nowadays - not because of rain but to protect the barn from intrusion of rats and mauses......
