Tamas The Kookaburra is a gorgeous bird, but not so little. He can kill a large snake very easily! You can not see here but they have the most wonderful colours on their wings. Thanks you for your lovely comments and of course your visit.

Yes Giulio they are from the Kingfisher family. These one eat lizards and snakes. When we go to the forest to feed the parrots, we always take some meat for the Kookaburra's and Magpies. The best part about them is their wonderful laugh! It is so loud and it makes you want to laugh along with him.

What a pretty little fellow, Palmina! You captured him beautifully! It's hard to believe that he can easily kill a large snake. That's amazing! I've also been observing birds but we don't have such a variety like you in Australia. Thanks for sharing! Cheers, Anne

Thanks May It is a lovely name isn't it? Aboriginal I believe. There are some beautiful photo's of The Kookaburra on the Wikipedia website I have an old photo of an Albino one, but not half as good as the one on the site.
Thank you very much Marcelo for the visit and for the Y.S.

nice photo, Palmina! It's been a long time since I saw a kookaburra in the wilds (almost 25 years ago in the Grampians), nowadays I have to go to the zoo to see them, poor things. My favorite kind of bird. Greetings from Germany, susan

w tanschlesinger They are beautiful birds. They are so cute and a pleasure to see. We are lucky that we have a family living near our home, although we don't see them very often, we hear them laughing each morning.
