Blue Mounds are Pink!

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

From "Blue Mounds State Park", MN I don't know what made the pioneers think that pink Quartzite + green trees = blue mounds . . . but that's what they named it. It's said that what they looked like from afar.
But maybe the early pioneers were just colourblind? (Not enough MSG in their diet?)
