Thanks for making it vivid, Hank. I've just been reading the history of which this is part. This shows it well and I suppose depicts the healing powers of nature and time--though perhaps it should never look this beautiful.

You beat me Marilyn! I'm planning to write a little bit for each picture. There are lots of shots of the SPOT where they all died, but when I was there I was more intrigued by what the river looked like, to try to put myself back in time a bit better.

Three regiments of U.S. Calvary were dispatched to force the Indians off thre Montana plains and back onto their reservations. One came from the west, one from the south, and the one Custer was attached to from the East.

The General approaching from the south was repulsed by the combined Indian forces a week or two before Custer got there.

Custer took an advanced group, running ahead of the main body of calvary, expecting to trap the Indiansd against the River. Instead they overwhelemed him and pushed him back up this little knoll.

  • I've seen this place in the Robert Redford's movie "The horse wishperer", maybe one day I'll see it me too.
  • Nice shot, congrats. A piece of American history.
  • Greetings, Marco.

Thanks for stopping by here, Marco. Since you do such fine scenery, they'll be many places in the U.S. for you to try.

Best regards,

Hank
