~ Bârsana Monastery - Maramureș County,Romania ~

Mănăstirea Bârsana este situata in comuna cu acelasi nume din judetul Maramureş. Asezamantul a fost construit la mijlocul secolului 16 de catre domnii Drăgoşeşti care au mai ctitorit si manastirea de la Peri (Săpânţa de azi). Mănăstirea purta hramul Sf. Nicolae si era una dintre cele mai importante din intreg tinutul Maramureşului. Aici si-a avut in aceea vreme resedinta episcopul Gavril Ştefanca (Gavril Bârsana). Tot aici erau scoliti preotii din satele invecinate si de la Mănăstirea Bârsana isi procurau cartile si preotii din zonele mai indepartate, acestea fiind aduse aici chiar si din Moldova si Ţara Românească. In anul 1791 imperiul austriac confisca averea manastirii, o desfinteaza iar bunurile ramase sunt transferate manastirii de la Cernoc (Munkaci). Ultimii calugari ramasi se muta la Mănăstirea Neamţ. Un mic schit se pastreaza totusi si functioneaza sub tutela Mănăstirii de la Peri. Mănăstirea Bârsana(hram-Soborul celor 12 apostoli) este reinfiintata in 1993 odata cu binecuvantarea acestui loc de catre PS Justinian Chira - episcop al Maramureşului si Sătmarului. Este inceputa constructia bisericii noi, a altarului de vara, a chiliilor si a paraclisului. Intreg ansamblul este realizat de mesterii din Bârsana. Cel care supervizeaza constructia este arhitectul Cordoş Dorel alaturi de preotul Gheorghe Urda din Bârsana. In prezent ansamblul monahal cuprinde: Biserica din lemn in stil maramureşean, Aghiasmatarul, Stăreţia, Altarul de Vară, Casa duhovnicului, Casa artistului, Casa mesterilor, Praznicarul cu trapeza, Muzeul mănăstirii, Turnul Clopotniţa, Poarta maramureşeana de la intrare, Monumentul funerar. Acestea sunt legate printr-o serie de alei care sunt flancate de frumoase aranjamente florale. Exista chiar si un mic lac in incinta mănăstirii cu un mic pod deasupra. Mănăstirea Bârsana este una dintre cele mai frumoase si ingrijite mănăstiri din Maramureş, zilnic fiind vizitata de sute de pelerini dar si turisti atat din tara cat si din strainatate. Este cu siguranta un loc care nu trebuie sa lipseasca din nici un itinerar prin Maramureş.

Barsana Monastery is situated in the village of the same name in the county of Maramures. The settlement was built in the mid 16th century by Messrs Drăgoşeşti who founded the monastery and the Peri (Săpânţa today). Barsana Monastery (patron-Synaxis of the 12 Apostles) is re-established in 1993 with the blessing of this place by PS Justinian Chira - Bishop of Maramures and Satu Mare. It started building the new church, the altar of summer, hermitages and chapel. Entire assembly is made by artisans in Barsana. The architect overseeing construction is Cordoş Dorel priest with George Urda of Barsana. Today the monastery comprises: Wooden Church in Maramures style, Aghiasmatarul, abbot, altar Summer House confessor, house artist, House masters, Praznicarul the refectory, monastery Museum, Bell Tower, Maramures gate entrance, funerary monument. They are linked by a series of paths that are flanked by beautiful floral arrangements. There's even a small lake in a small monastery bridge above. Barsana Monastery is one of the most beautiful monasteries in Maramureş groomed daily visited by hundreds of pilgrims as well as tourists from the country and abroad. It is definitely a place you should not miss in any itinerary Around.
