Red Cedar was a prized timber, and attracted the earliest timbergetters. It produces a dark red cabinet timber. This particular tree struggles on its rocky site, battered by boulders carried by the river when in flood - the scars on the 2nd metre of the trunk indicate such a battering.

And this is right on the lip of the falls!
