Lovely photo, Marilyn! I like the framing of the rooftops, with the arched details in front and the spires off in the distance.

What a beautiful sight, Marilyn! You show us so many lovely photos from Guelph. It's such a pretty town, built with care.

I like the way you composed the photo, with the church in the distance and the tower of the railway station looking over the roof. Lovely colours, they fit so well together and the snow makes it look cheerful.

My best wishes, May

I love all the triangular formations in this photo. You always come up with the goods. Guelph is a great looking place. The name sounds interesting, what are it's origins Marilyn? ..Anita

Many thanks Ryan, May, Eva, Hank, and Anita. I'm glad you like this unconventional view!

Anita, my husband would answer your question at length. I'll be more brief. Guelph (founded in 1827) was named to honor Britain's royal family, the Hanoverians, who were descended from the Guelfs, one of the political factions in late medieval Germany and Italy. Hence Guelph calls itself "The Royal City." Only at the beginning of World War I did the royal family begin to use the name Windsor rather than a German name.

Thanks Marilyn, That's very interesting. I have an English and German blood line so it would be nice to gain more information. I will have a look on the Internet...Cheers, Anita
