Arikamedu - 'Arikan-medu or Poduke’ which literally means, ‘eroding mound’.[1] According to Wheeler, Arikamedu was a Tamil fishing village which was formerly a major Chola port dedicated to bead making and trading with Roman traders. -WIKIPEDIA
