What an interesting series Keith. I have never seen anything like this before. Is it to do with mining accidents? Such a pity that GE hasn't seen fit to accept this.

I like the reflections of the clouds on the path, and the way that the names can be read when one walks the memorial path in either direction.

Cheers, Amelia

Hi Amelia and thanks for visiting. The memorial path is to remember the 204 men and boys who lost their lives due to the 1862 New Hartley Pit Disaster. The Memorial Garden contains the capped Pit Shaft where the disaster happened. I don't have any pitmen ancestors but the story of this incident moved me.
