Great photo Maxine, now if there was a New Jersey in Missouri you would be able to go from coast to coast in the same state LOL..

There's not a New Jersey, but there IS a Newark.

Adam Elmquist on November 21, 2012

ohh no.... LOL not Newark... Nah I have to say although I live by Newark, NJ and not in the city itself I have to say you just have to know when and where to go depending on the time of day. All cities have the good and the bad... From what you are saying there is another New Jersey city name that comes to mind. Trenton NJ, which can't be compared to Trenton FL... LOL

Trenton, now there's one of them in Missouri, too!!

And there is a Kearny too, Just spelled Kearney in MO like Kearney NE.. All from the same Kear(ny-ney) family back from the Civil War times..

The fun part is how the same spelled name is pronounced differently. Here in Missouri, it's NeVAYda (Nevada) and MYlawn (Milan). In Kansas, the Arkansas river is OurKANsas, but further along in another state the same river is called the ARkinsaw river.

Our English language, and our nation's history and the people have all contributed to the various names and pronunciation... Did you ever watch How The States Got Their Shapes on the History channel love that program..

Hey Maxine please have a happy, healthy, and safe Thanksgiving day for you and your family Gobble Gobble...

I'll have to check that show out. I get the state borders that are rivers, but some of the other ones can be pretty wild.

Adam - Have a great Thanksgiving with your family and friends.
