Great photo! L. Have a nice Sunday!
Great photo of this beautiful church. Nice natural colors. You have my like and favorite.
Never a wire around when you expect them--I guess I'd better follow in your footsteps! Next you will be taking pictures through the windows for B.M.G.!
Anyway, congratulations once again, and L+F of course!
Thank you DW, D200DX and Teresa. If you look close there are wires, but no major ones to disturb the beauty of the building. I did however have to shoot this as a series of verticals and then stitch them together. Mind you, I was standing across a six lane road, plus a wide city sidewalk and had my back against a wall with a complete parking lot in front of me and it was still not enough distance to capture this as a horizontal. This is an enormous church. I think this distance killed the wire factor. But the cell tower.... that's another story.
Reminds me of the excuses I made for not being able to take any good photographs of Chartres Cathedral in 1970--you could see it for three miles across the fields, but when you got to Chartres, your back was against a wall in ANY direction, and you would have had to have used a fisheye lens in any case. BUT THE DIFFERENCE IS, YOU got the picture, and I did not! Congratulations, Old Slice'n'Dice!
There is a place where you can get a good close up of Chartres, but it's kept a state secret from silly american tourists. It's called, "Les Touristes Américains bêtes Exposent l'acte Secret".
Impressive church, beautiful shot! Like
Best wishes, Bassam
thank you Bassam!
Very good composition, beautiful colors! Like! Best wishes! Νίκος
Alas, I am sillier now than I was in 1970!--but unlike my fellow tourists of those days, I did not expect the French to learn English for my convenience (of course all of them could speak English better than I, but that, too, was a state secret!).
The only "good close up of Chartres" that I have seen was taken from the sky--to which I did not have access while I was in France. How I should like to be filthy rich, and able to hire my own Zeppelin! Unfortunately I prefer to pay an actual fair share in taxes and bank in the United States, so I am not permitted into the Billionaires Club.
Wonderful church, so well captured – Greetings !
Thank you Christos for your kind comment.
